The mission committee coordinates the outreach and social service ministries of the congregation. Committee members keep the community informed about congregational activities, provide opportunities for welcoming visitors and new members, and coordinate the congregation’s involvement in mission projects and social service ministries.
During this time of sheltering in place, the Holy Family Food Pantry continues its work. Randy Burnight and his team of volunteers greet those in need at the lobby doors and hand out bags of groceries, fruit and fresh vegetables on a weekly basis. Observing protective measures, the volunteers serve with masks and gloves so you can’t see their friendly smile, but you can hear their welcome voices and receive their hospitality. We are thankful during this challenging time to be able to provide needed groceries to those who come seeking. Please support this important ministry with your financial gift to the congregation.
The Evangelism Committee welcomes visitors to First Lutheran Church, encourages visitors to return and participate in our church family. As part of the congregation, the committee promotes the congregation in the community thru social media, newspaper advertising, and radio broadcasts. The committee supports greeters, coffee hours, congregational picnics and outreach opportunities in the community.
If you are interested in finding out more about First Lutheran or are interested in joining the congregation call the office and ask.
Throughout the calendar year members of the congregation are invited to gather for fellowship by going to concerts or plays together, enjoying the annual picnic and auction, or gathering in Fireside for coffee and fellowship following worship.

The opportunities to give are many, for more information check out the ELCA website, Good Gifts, program.
If you enjoy quilting join others on Friday mornings during fall, winter and spring to design and create beautiful quilts to be sent to Lutheran World Relief. Our quilters make quilts which are sent across the globe and here at home. See their bulletin board in the hallway for a pictorial view of the quilts they made in 2019.
